I found the inspiration to become a Holistic Health Coach by living through my own health issues and struggles…
I had severe acne and was told by my doctor to get on the pill to clear my skin and ended up staying on them for over 7 years! At this time, I had become quite interested in health and wellness and started doing a lot of my own research and reading on the topic. Learning that the pill can really mess with your hormones, and it was actually the only thing that wasn’t natural that I was putting into my body, this was when I decided it was time to come off them. This created a hormonal havoc for me and I was a mess for over a year. My testosterone levels were super high, I lost my period for about 9 months and my doctor didn’t know how to help me. On top of this, I was working a 9-5 corporate accountant job that didn’t fulfill me.
Continuing my own research, the more I learned, the more fascinated I got, and I eventually felt a calling to enroll into the Integrative Institute of Nutrition to get a health coaching certification. My goal was to find balance for myself, but also help others who struggled with similar issues I did. To deepen my knowledge, I also took an advanced Hormone Health Course at IIN as this was my biggest personal struggle.
Since completing the courses, balancing my own body naturally and helping my clients, I’ve learned that there is no one size fits all when it comes to how we should eat or live to optimize our health and wellbeing.
This is probably why so many are struggling with it! There is a lot of conflicting information out there on diet and lifestyle, but the fact is, we all need to find the approach that work for our unique body. In my case, I took a food sensitivity test with my Naturopath and found out that I was sensitive to gluten, yeast, lettuce and tomatoes. On top of this, I found out by coincidence that caffeine was a big no-no (link to blog post about caffeine) for me and coming off these really changed things for me for the better.
Today, I have reached a state of balance and I’m in tune with my body. I’m vegan, and it works great for me, but that doesn’t mean it will work for you! I’m very excited to be able to help others and navigate them on their unique journey towards wellness.
Who is Wildly Kale?
I’m Michaela but my friends started calling me Kale since I am a health coach living a super healthy life. I also have a bit of a wild side and I love to travel, explore the world and meet people from different cultures. Combining these, I landed at the name ‘Wildly Kale’ for my health coaching practice.
For me, an important aspect of health is finding yourself and learning what your true passions in life are. I left my corporate accounting job to pursue my passions; health coaching and allowing more time to explore the world. It felt like a big risk at the time, but I have not looked back since taking that leap!
